Plasma Spray Powders
Thermal Barrier Coatings Manufactured from Zircoa's own Zirconium Oxide
Zircoa's Plasma Spray Powders are engineered for turbines and other thermal barrier coating applications. They exhibit superior deposition efficiencies and flow characteristics in both internal and external powder feed plasma guns.
For more detailed information on the unique properties of Zirconium Oxide (A Grain Zirconia, ZrO2) please visit our Solutions page, or contact a product specialist to discuss your specific needs.
Leadership Since the 1960's
For more than 30 years Zircoa has remained a leader in the development of thermal barrier coatings. When NASA required experimental yttria stabilized zirconia powders for their thermal barrier coating programs in the early 1960’s, Zircoa delivered. These pioneering efforts, and recent advances in the science of thermal barrier coatings, bring Zircoa to the forefront of materials processing and application.
Zircoa's plasma spray powders are produced using a series of proprietary sintering processes. These processes are controlled to achieve powders with a specific set of engineered physical and chemical properties -- e.g. controlled porosity, phase stability, chemical homogeneity -- that are unlike other competitive zirconia powders.
Controlled Porosity — Consisting of well-crystallized sintered aggregates of zirconia phases, having a "swiss-cheese" texture. This texture provides a porous aggregate with a high surface area and a minimum of fine particles.
Phase Stability — Our spray powders melt in a controlled manner as they enter the plasma flame, resulting in 10-23% higher deposition efficiencies, lower coating costs and reduced premature vaporization and nozzle buildup.
Manufacturing Flexibility — Superior deposition efficiencies and flow characteristics can be expected in a wide range of both internal and external powder feed plasma guns.
Zircoa customers can be assured our spray powders will have consistent and reproducible properties -- a major factor in the overall control of coating costs.
